May 25 (Emirates 24|7): A fuel station attendant was found dead, hanging from the ceiling fan of his room on Saturday morning.
Raj Sharma, 30, who came to work as a fuel station attendant performed his duty until Saturday morning and was found hanging from the ceiling fan of his room in the staff accommodation.
His friends, colleagues and superiors said he was on night duty from 10pm on Friday until 6.30am on Saturday and alleged that he had committed suicide after returning.
An official source from Dubai Police confirmed the incident, and said an investigation is going on to ascertain the reason for the Nepali man’s death.
“We have taken the body for forensic investigation to Bur Dubai Police Station. Initial investigations indicated that he may have committed suicide. Further investigations are ongoing to ascertain the reasons for his action.
“Police is questioning some of his roommates. Meanwhile, various reasons - ranging from stress due to earthquake in his home country to family problems and work issues – are being cited. But only a detailed investigation will reveal the actual reason,” said the source.
Sharma was a very silent person, according to colleagues who shared the room with him in Sonapur. They added that his uncle had passed away a few days ago.
In fact, most of his colleagues at the petrol station cannot remember him because Sharma was quite new and had joined the company just two months back.
One of his colleagues could not believe that Sharma is no more. “He was a very silent person and we don’t know the reasons for his death. He is married with a child,” he said.
“In the last few days he was seen ‘unfriending’ some of his contacts from Facebook. We don’t know the reason, though,” said another colleague.
