Three injured in Kashmir terror attack

Srinagar, May 25 (IANS): Three people were injured on Monday when separatist guerrillas fired at a shop selling SIM cards of a mobile phone company in north Kashmir's Sopore town, police said.

"Militants fired at a shop selling BSNL SIM cards near the bus stand in Sopore town today (Monday)," a senior police officer told IANS here.

"Three persons were injured in the firing. They have been taken to hospital for treatment and the area has been surrounded to carry out searches," the officer said.

Earlier this month, guerrillas threatened cell phone service providers in Sopore of dire consequences after an equipment installed purportedly by the guerrillas on Badami Bagh cell phone tower in Sopore town was removed.

The equipment had reportedly been installed by the guerrillas to improve their communication system since the tower provided a vantage position.

Police here confirmed two days back that they seized the unlawful equipment.
