Four tourists jailed after drug bust in New Zealand


Wellington, May 25 (IANS): Four tourists, including two women, have been jailed after being charged with trying to smuggle a hallucinogeic drug, methamphetamine, into New Zealand, customs authorities said on Monday.

According to sources, they were allegedly caught with more than 12 kg of the illegal drug worth 12 million New Zealand dollars (about $8 million) hidden in their suitcases, when customs officers stopped them at Auckland International Airport, Xinhua news agency reported.

The nationalities of the convicts were not made clear.
