Dubai, May 25: Awards were presented during the MENA HR Excellence Awards held in Dubai as part of the 10th annual human assets expansion summit MENA. It also featured the 7th annual MENA HR excellence awards, which recognize outstanding achievements by individuals and organizations in advancing the HR function.
Akbar Moideen Thumbay received the award from Sophie Le Ray, CEO Naseba group in a glittering ceremony held at Sofitel Hotel Dubai on May 21. Champion of Change award is given to a C-level non HR executive for his/her contribution to the HR function of his organization. In a stiff competition, Akbar won the award in recognition of his leadership, strategic thinking and key management decisions that benefited the organization.
After receiving the award Akbar Moideen Thumbay said, “The change process is complex and requires commitment from senior leaders and a robust plan to address the people's side of any change initiative. Hence I have been supporting a number of disciplined steps that have enhanced its capabilities for developing talents while ensuring management continuity throughout its system. The best talent management practice award was bagged by Thumbay Group UAE for the second consecutive year, for setting standard for innovation and strategy in talent management. The precise criteria for this award category was effective employee onboarding, ongoing training and development, coaching, mentoring, assessing and developing leadership capabilities, monitoring and measuring talent management, designing effective compensation and recognition system within the organization. Sophie Le Ray, chief executive officer, Naseba group presented the awards. Suraj Padmanabhan, assistant manager learning and development and Karthikeyan, manager talent acquisition Thumbay Group received the award. Jwala and Jubeena from HR department also represented the group in the conference.
The summit connected HR professionals from leading organizations in the Middle East and North Africa region. Leading HR professionals and organizations were awarded and recognized for excellence for their achievement in the past 12 months. This specific platform is organized exclusively by French business information group named Naseba. Other winners in different categories were Pfizer, FGB (First Gulf Bank), Etisalat, Dubai Airport, Gulf Bank, Emirates NBD, Etihad Airways and Bayt.
The two day forum facilitated knowledge-sharing on the most pressing issues HR professionals in the region are facing. Centered on the theme ‘HR Innovations: Transforming People, Processes and Technology', this year’s summit focused on arming the employees with the right tools to communicate and collaborate in an increasingly global, multicultural workplace.
The award is given in recognition of an organization for its excellence in talent management.
