Six young boys drown in Telangana reservoir

Hyderabad, May 25 (IANS): Six young boys drowned in a reservoir in Telangana's Karimnagar district on Monday, police said.

The incident occurred when the boys, aged between 8 and 13 years, stepped into the Lower Manair Dam (LMD) reservoir near Padmanagar on the outskirts of Karimnagar town for a bath.

Tragedy struck as soon as the children, hailing from the town, stepped into the water to take a bath after playing cricket at a nearby ground. They drowned one after the other, police said.

When the boys did not return home, their parents went in search of them. One of the boys, who was part of the group, but did not enter the water, was found on the reservoir bank in a state of shock.

After the parents alerted the police, the bodies of the six victims were recovered and handed over to their relatives, police said.
