Puttur, Apr 9: At last the people of Kadaba and surrounding area heaved a sigh of relief after first monsoons of the year brought a cooling effect in the area on Sunday April 9 evening.

The Easter Sunday proved to be lucky as heavy rains coupled with thunder and lightning lashed through the area for almost half an hour.  The rains were not only a relief from excessive heat but also proved good in driving out dust that has become such a routine owing to bad roads and ever increasing construction works.

Noojibaltila, Kodimbala, Alankar, Koila, Aitur and surrounding areas received heavy rains bringing cheer to the locals to a great extent.  However, the first rains also had its share of destruction as a big tree fell on the house of one Mariamma Thomas at Thumbya.  The house is said to have been extensively damaged in the tragedy.  Reports also said that a couple of houses in the same vicinity too have been damaged as heavy winds blew tiles from the roof of these houses.  The area comes under Aitur gram panchayat limits and the GP president and secretary have already visited the houses and extended their help.
