M'luru: Customs officers seize foreign currency worth Rs 375023

Mangaluru, May 25: The Customs officers at Mangaluru International Airport seized foreign currency totalling to 12,500 Saudi Arabian Riyals, 7,755 UAE Dirhams, 50 Kuwait Dinars and 400 Qatar Riyals equivalent to Rs 3,75,023 (Rupees Three Lakhs Seventy Five Thousand Twenty Three only), from the passenger Mohammed Ali Pallikunhi, aged about 27 years, hailing from Mogralputhur, Kasaragod Dt, Kerala, at the time of his departure from Mangaluru International Airport in the evening of May 24 by Jet Airways flight No 9W532 to Dubai.

The said passenger attempted to smuggle the foreign currency out of India without valid money exchange documents.

Further investigation is under progress.
