Mangalore, Apr 10: The tri-monthly Karnataka Development Programme (KDP) meeting was held at taluk panchayat office here on Monday April 9.
Moodbidri MLA Abhaychandra Jain presided over the meet. Speaking on the occasion he said that the task of drilling sufficient borewells has been delayed by the authorities in the taluk, which has worsened the water shortage crisis in the city.
Assistant executive engineer of the panchayat raj engineering department Kushalappa Gowda said that the list of borewells to be drilled has been finalized, but no one has offered to execute the work. He also said that as the allocation of Rs 65,000 for the drilling work was insufficient, tenders will be invited from private parties and the work is expected to get under way soon.
Officials from the different government departments presented reports on the progress made between December 2006 and March 2007 under the various sectors of the KDP on the occasion.
