Mangalore, Apr 11: A function and an exhibition were organized by Laxmi memorial Collage of Nursing to commemorate World Health Day here on Tuesday April 10.
Manohar Rao, professor emeritus of department of ommunity medicine, inaugurated the inhabitation. He highlighted two issues on World Health Day - priority to develop manpower and role of nursing staffs in encouraging people’s participation in safeguarding their own health.
Avijit Roy, faculty, department of community medicine, AJMIS, who was the guest of honour, stressed the need for health regulation and strengthening of primary health care systems in India.
Larissa Martha Sam Principal of Laxmi Memorial Collage of Nursing presided over the function and spoke on the importance of investing in our own health. She also highlighted the role of nurses in increasing awareness among the public on various diseases.
Nisha, a nursing student, welcomed the gathering. A symposium on epidemiological diseases was also held on this occasion.
