Beijing, May 28 (IANS): Four officials were suspended from their duties on Thursday over a May 24 fire that claimed 38 lives at a rest home in China's Henan province.
The fire broke out at 7.33 p.m. in privately owned Kangleyuan Rest Home in a row of bungalows in Pingdingshan city in Lushan county on May 24 evening.
The blaze swept through the complex, which is home to 51 senior citizens, before being put out around 8.22 p.m., Xinhua news agency reported.
The suspended officials include the deputy head of Lushan county.
Six elderly people were injured in the fire.
Chinese President Xi Jinping has ordered a thorough investigation into the fire tragedy.
