BJP rules out country-wide ban on beef

Panaji, May 28 (PTI): BJP today ruled out a country-wide ban on beef, saying it is for the states to take a decision on it keeping in mind the "sentiments of the people".

"Wherever there is BJP government, we will consider sentiments of the people before imposing ban on beef. We have not said that we will be banning beef across the country," BJP president Amit Shah told reporters here.

BJP governments in Maharashtra and Haryana have banned beef. However, Shah made it clear that the party will not be insisting on imposing ban on beef in all the states it is in power, leaving it to the respective governments to take a call on it by factoring in the sentiments of the people.

To a query on extending ban on cow slaughter in Goa, Shah said, "Goa government will take a decision only after discussing the issue with people."

He also downplayed Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi's remark that "those who want to eat beef can go to Pakistan", saying it was his "personal" view.

"That was his personal comment. I have no comment to make. I can't make personal comment. I am the party President," Shah said to queries on the issue.

    90 percent cows in India are of foreign origin and yet they are banned slaughter in India and then Why BJP is not planning to put ban on cow slaughters all over the world .Infact BJP should ban import and export of all the things from those countries who eat beef ? Further PM should not travel on flight f the Pilot or Flight manufacturer are Beef eater?

    Even in case of the latter, the law books prescribed many restrictions. Hindus consider compassion for animals (bhuta daya) one of the highest virtues and mark of divine quality. It has been a tradition in Hinduism since long not to slaughter cattle that are past their prime. Even if they serve no purpose, they are allowed to die naturally. Hindus (who practice their religion, not the namesake Hindus) care for sick cattle and take are of their welfare. iItentionally they do not harm animals, because they know the consequences of such bad karma.

    Being a Hindu, I cant see anything wrong in eating beef. If Hindus can eat fish and tortoise and even pork (which all the incarnation of Lord Vishnu) then why not beef. All incarnations of Vishnu should be worshipped not just Rama and Krishna. Manjappa says he sees peace and innocence when he looks at the eyes of a cow. I tried that and he is right, indeed it looks innocent so I went on to look into the eyes of a sheep and a goat and Alas!! they look innocent too and our hen and cocks too. I went to my neighbours place to check on the pig and it reminded me the movies babe. Why Manjappa did not try these and found out all these animals are innocent and we should not kill them. I looks at the plants which we boil when are alive and we don't feel bad about it. We cut them when they are alive and cook them before they die. Raj, do you mind if I ask a question?? Why cow became sacred for you only when BJP government came to power?? Your ancestors lived in this country without any problem when beef was easily available everywhere. Your ancestors lived in India when Babri Masjid stood in Ayodhya but this became an issue when Advani decided to become the Prime Minister by taking Ratha Yatra every time when there is an election. VHP collected crores from common man (I paid too) as donation for Ram Mandir and even took bricks. a Khar sevak went to Ayodhya from my village. Now his daughter ran away with a SC (hari jan) he said his daughter died for him and they do not recognize her as his daughter anymore, but tell you what..he goes to Samajotsav and shouts Hindus are one(hindugalu ella onde) even now. This is just hypocrisy and the sooner you understand it the better for India.

    hypocrisy is our trademark. We are totally faith based society than a rationally thinking society. Even I have wondered about Pork, which is an Avatara of Vishnu and how people eat the same. I have not seen pork worship anywhere in India.

    Hinduism is a compassionate religion and treats all living beings from animals down to insects and tiny creatures with great respect as aspects of God, having souls of their own, going through the same process of births and deaths as human beings. Depending upon how they are born, they classify all living beings into three kinds: those who are born from seeds and sprouts, those who are born from eggs and those who are born from womb. The scriptures urge us to treat the animals fairly and, not harm them and not subject them to cruelty and pain. Non-violence towards all, including plants and animals is the highest virtue. Non-violence means not even having the intention to disturb others. Sacrificing animals to appease the deities was a prehistoric tradition which continued in the tradition for long, but as time went by became increasingly uncomfortable with such practices to the extent that it is no more appreciated in Hinduism by all sections of people. The historical attitude of Hindus towards animals can be guessed from the fact that until the arrival of the British into India, the Indian forests were teeming with all kinds of wildlife. It was the British who made hunting a great sport and virtually wiped out the wildlife population from the country.

    Hinduism upholds all acts of kindness. Since Hinduism recognizes all animals as beings with souls, it has been a tradition in Hinduism since the earliest times to protect them and nourish them. Nourishing the animals along with gods and ancestors has been a traditional practice and part of the five daily sacrifices of Hindu tradition. Just as humans depend upon gods for their protection, the animals depend upon humans for their welfare. Just as we nourish gods through sacrifices, animals nourish humans through milk and their flesh. Killing animals except for rituals or for food was a taboo.

    Sriman Amit Shaw tried to influence the politicians at the western States like Assam to enact a law to ban beef and the President is waiting to sign such laws in a hurry to get blessed.

    But the greatest paradox is this. Amith Shaw was the former Home Minister of Gujarat but showing any interest to ban beef export from Gujarat but working too hard everywhere else to create a beef ban, so that the butcher business in Gujarat can get far bigger and the State of Gujarat can monopolize the beef business of India as well as the people of Gujarat can consume beef without any problem. Why the electorate of India can't read this trick?

    Which karma is more valid? If I am a poor farmer and my whole asset is three or four cows. After milking the cows, I will sell them to somebody and buy three other cows to keep my family away from poverty. Due to the beef ban, nobody wanted to buy my cow, so I am pushed to the end of the road and may take some dangerous actions.

    Which is important Sir?
    Taking the life of a human being of any religion or political party?
    Or the cow on the other hand. If you think that the life of a cow is important than human life, I feel pity towards you.

    Who gave the weird freedom to some States to play with human life and in other States ruled by the same party, there is no killing karma of human beings
    in force!

    When the cow replaced as god?
    We didn't have any authentic quotation from any holy scriptures, its only recently these sanghis are d the cow is holy, mother & god also!!! Sanathan dharma is oldest religion then why there is no past history tells the same. Its only these sanghis logic to divide the people in this issue but now they are laughing stock in the whole world.
    Think something out of your nagpur shakas, and if cow is your mother how you will find out husband of that particular cow, which is assumed as your father.
    Meanwhile you sanghis have to introduce a marriage system to these cows as your family will stay happily.
    But dont force others what is your logic.
    First love the humanity instead of hating other community. Love all the animals not only the cow.

    Most Hindu sects from South, North East, WB, CHattigarh, UP etc do eat beef, as well as Dalits (16.6 pct), Muslims (14.88 pct), Christians (2.3 pct) and Tribal (9 pct) of the population eat beef.

    So if you chaddi bhakts understand more than 50 percent of Indians eat beef.

    You and your chaddiless 'pro upper caste' BJP will face the brunt from Beef eaters and farmers in 2019.

    BJP is balancing their worship to both deities i.e. Kamadhenu and Lakshmi. By banning beef across most states, they keep Kamadhenu and majority of the bakhts happy. By allowing beef exports to continue and some states to continue cow slaughter, they keep Lakshmi and the rest of the beef eating population happy.

    Animal Lover. I mouth do not get wet when I see jackfruit or mango to be honest just because I cant eat them until my stomach is full. my mouth do not get wet either when I see a cow or pig or lamb or even a chicken but my mouth gets wet when that meat is cooked deliciously and the smell comes out of it. Hope you now understand the difference and the proper answer for your question. No one's mouth will get wet when they see a cow, we are not wild animals.

    Beef ban is a biggest blunder by BJP Govt.
    History will tell this. They did not foresee the consequences.
    It affects the farmers including those debt ridden, famine stricken.
    What will they do with un-wanted cattle? Fodder is out of their reach, there is enormous water scarcity. No buyers for cattle!
    Cattle will die, stray dogs, beats, crows and vultures will eat them.
    Voiceless Farmers will also die.
    Creations should never bring hurdles to Creators plan.
    It is natural system. Animal eats animal. Big Fish eats small fish for survival. Harming, yes as per that logic, eating vegetables is also killing. Govt will repent and compelled to reverse their decision.

    The BJP promised to build the Ayodha Temple in their electoral rhetoric, now found some constitutional challenges.

    Another promise of Anti-conversion law, now found something challenging to that promise.

    Go to beef ban, the constitution may not be telling anything, so create a law banning all meat products from India. That will be the only accomplishment of the BJP Government.

    The BJP politicians have never seen the Indian constitution earlier and now putting all the burden and excuse at the constitution as an escape route.

    The less expensive rich protean food provided by the Creator was a great blessing to the millions of people of all religions and political parties in India.

    Through its ban, the politicians are pushing millions of people into less consumption of healthy food. Is that a noble contribution? Mentally imbalanced politicians, thus enjoying the cruel fun of making people hungry and creating massive unemployment to get blessings from the cows which are treated without any concern by these so called cow worshippers.
