Bantwal, Apr 12: Two cases of thefts were reported in the taluk, one at Manchi and another at Thumbe on Tuesday April 10.
While Rs 1.44 lac in cash and gold was stolen from the house of one Khateejamma at Kukkaje-Manchi village here, in a span of just one hour, gold and cash worth Rs 27,000 were stolen from the house of one Sharada Rao in Thumbe.
The total amount stolen is worth Rs 1.71 lac.
It is said that the thieves struck after getting definite information that both women were alone in their respective houses. .
The cases have been registered at the Bantwal rural police station. Circle inspector M K Ganapati is investigating the cases.
