Mangalore, Apr 12: The Agriculture Produce Marketing Committee (APMC) here is all set to take matters of development and construction of rural roads in its own hands with a plan to develop road connectivity in the agricultural areas of the taluk.
A press release stated that though APMC has been able to provide fair market prices for traditional crops, the transportation of the crops is still a problem owing to poor infrastructure and condition of roads.
APMC will take up road construction work between different fields and market yards in the rural areas.
Elaborating the work done by the committee in various constituencies, the release stated that the committee has spent rs 74 lac in this regard, including Rs 19 lac for road and building construction in the city, Rs 4 lac for road development in Ullal, Rs 16 lac in Mulki-Moodbidri, Rs 3.50 lac in Suratkal and Rs 6.50 in Bantwal.
