BSF trooper injured in Pakistan firing


Jammu, June 1 (IANS): A Border Security Force (BSF) trooper was seriously wounded on Monday in firing by Pakistan Rangers on the international border in Jammu and Kashmir.

The incident took place in Hiranagar sector of Kathua district along the international border, a police officer said. The wounded trooper was identified as A.K. Rabha, who was rushed to a hospital.

"Pakistan Rangers used small arms and automatic weapons to target Bobiya border outpost of the BSF," the officer said.

The BSF retaliated, provoking a gun battle, the officer told IANS here.

Earlier on Monday, the Pakistan Army twice violated the 2003 ceasefire on the Line of Control (LoC) in Krishna Ghati sector of Poonch district. No casualty or damage was caused in the incident.
