Three foreigners injured in Gurgaon hotel fire

Gurgaon, June 1 (IANS): At least three foreigners were injured early Monday when a major fire broke out in a hotel here, police said.

A Japanese, a Nigerian and a woman from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) were injured when the fire broke out in Kshitij Royale Hotel in sector 29.

"Over two dozen people, including some foreigners were evacuated from the hotel," a fire officer told IANS.

"A major fire was reported in the hotel after 12.30 a.m. Seven fire tenders and more than 35 fire fighters were pressed into service to douse the blaze. It took more than two hours to completely control the fire," he said.

He added that most of the guests at the hotel were sleeping when the fire broke out.

"A large part of the ground floor, first floor and third floor were destroyed due to the fire. Prima facie it looks like an electrical short circuit caused the fire," he added.
