Mangalore, Apr 15: There is a need of separate cell to ensure that all the physically challenged persons should be employed in different concerns, said Nagaraja Shetty, minister-in-charge of the district in-charge.
He was speaking at the inauguration of the All India Physically Challenged Bank Employees’ Development Federation inTown hall on Sunday April 15 evening.
Physically challenged persons should involve themselves in various creative activities even after getting the job, he advised.
He also announced that the monthly ex-gratia payments given to the physically challenged had been raised from Rs 100 to Rs 400 by the state government with effect from this month.
On the same occasion, the minister honoured the social workers Mahesh R Shetty, Kalattur Vishwanath Shetty, Harish R Belchada, Padmanabha Baliga, Jagannath Chowta and Muralidhar Hedge.
Shri Gurudevananda Swamiji of Odiyur Math invoked blessings. Shyamsundar Shetty, general manager of Vijaya Bank, presided over the function. A Sadananda Shetty, president of Shree Devi Education Trust and Dr Mohan Alva, president of Alvas’ Education Foundation, were chief guests of the occasion.
Chandrashekhar Rai welcomed the gathering. Bhaskar Rai Kukkuvalli compered the programme.
