Islamabad stresses on NSG membership

Islamabad, June 4 (IANS): Pakistan deserves membership of the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG) without any discrimination, Foreign Secretary Aizaz Chaudhry said in Washington.

Chaudhry said the Pakistan-US relations were on the right direction and both Islamabad and Washington's approach was also positive, Geo News reported on Thursday.

He termed the Pakistan-US ties as "very important" and "essential" for Pakistan, adding that the defence partnership was better as compared to past.

Meanwhile, briefing the media about the Pakistan-US Working Group meeting in Washington, Chaudhry said Pakistan was a responsible state and added that nuclear technology was also used in energy and medicine.

Chaudhry said Pakistan was against all terrorists and has launched action against them. He ruled out the presence of any Islamic State militants in the country.
