Intense work will continue on Greece's debt, says EC

Brussels, June 4 (IANS): The European Commission (EC) has said that "intense work" will be continued to reach an agreement between Greece and international creditors over Athens' debt issues, Efe news agency reported on Thursday.

About the meeting between its president Jean-Claude Juncker and Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, the European Commission said it was "good and constructive".

"Progress was made in understanding each other's positions on the basis of various proposals. It was agreed they will meet again. Intense work will continue," the EC said after the end of the meeting in which Eurogroup president Jeroen Dijsselbloem also participated.

On Wednesday Juncker first met with Dijsselbloem and later separately with Tsipras.

The three then held a working dinner which did not end in a deal or agreement just like the EC and Dijsselbloem had already warned before.
