Jun 5, (Mid-day): Jogeshwari resident Shashwat Kumar wanted to see off his friend till the check-in area of the domestic airport, but on-duty officer identified the fake ticket when the accused tried to exit the terminal
On Wednesday, Jogeshwari resident Shashwat Kumar (22) forged an e-ticket to escort a friend till the check-in area of the domestic airport, but was nabbed by an alert airline official when he tried to leave the terminal.
Kumar had come to domestic terminal 1B to see off his friend Manu Sharma who was to travel to Delhi by Indigo Airline 6E 668 (that departs Mumbai at around 11.15 pm). He entered departure gate No 1 using the forged ticket and a PAN card as ID proof. But Kumar was nabbed when he was trying to exit.
An official present at the spot explained, “Kumar was standing near the exit gate when he was noticed by an airline official. On being asked if he needed any assistance, the forged ticket was shown, and it was found that he had false documents.”
The officer added, “He was smart enough to carry his document (for ID) along with the forged e-ticket so that he could easily be allowed into the terminal without any trouble.” Another official added, “It was only when an on-duty officer checked Kumar’s tickets that he realised something was fishy. An inquiry conducted by the officer confirmed that no such ticket existed.”
The airport police registered an FIR on Wednesday. Madhukar Sankhe, assistant commissioner of police (airport division) told mid-day, “Kumar is a resident of Jogeshwari and had forged the ticket only because he wanted to drop his friend till the check-in area. A case under Sections 420, 465, 468 of the IPC and Section 66D of the IT Act has been registered.”
