Shimla, June 5 (IANS): The hills of Himachal Pradesh on Friday again saw the mercury rising by three to four degrees. In some areas, temperatures reached 39 degrees Celsius.

Shimla, located at a height of 7,000 feet above sea level, recorded a high of 23.5 degrees Celsius.

"The maximum temperatures were up by three to four degrees in the state due to lack of rain," an official at the meteorological office here told IANS.

However, there was no change in the minimum temperature.

He said Paonta Sahib town in Sirmaur district was the hottest at 39 degrees Celsius.

Dharamsala in Kangra district recorded a high of 28.4 degrees Celsius, while it was 21.4 degrees in Kalpa in Kinnaur district and 24.5 degrees in Bhuntar in Kullu district.

The western disturbances were active in the state in the past few days, bringing moderate rains across the state.

The met department said now largely dry weather would prevail across the state.
