Nestle moves Uttarakhand High Court against Maggi making ban

New Delhi, June 5 (IANS): Nestle India on Friday challenged in the Uttarakhand High Court a state government ban on the manufacture of Maggi noodles at its factory in Pantnagar.

On Thursday, the Uttarakhand government issued a notice to ban manufacture, storage, distribution and sale of Maggi instant noodles in the state for 90 days.

"We have already announced taking our product off the shelves. We approached the high court of Uttarakhand today (Friday) to contest the ban on manufacture at our factory at Pantnagar," said Himanshu Manglik, senior manager, corporate communications, Nestle India.

Nestle India courted controversy after reports on higher-than-permissible levels of some substances in its Maggi instant noodles.
