Dabur's Burman family to be north India franchisee for Taco Bell


New Delhi, June 7 (IANS): The Burman family, owners of consumer goods brand Dabur India, and US quick-service restaurant operator Yum! Brands on Sunday announced their local franchisee partnership with the latter's Taco Bell brand of Mexican tacos and burritos.

Taco Bell, which has six restaurants in Bangalore and Mumbai, "announced its expansion into New Delhi with its launch at Ambience Mall, Vasant Kunj, later this month," said a statement here.

"Taco Bell announced the Delhi launch with Burman Hospitality Private Ltd., its first franchisee in India incorporated by the Burman family," it added.

"Delhi fans have been asking for Taco Bell in their city and we're excited to offer our signature Mexican-inspired food and break-through value to our consumers here who have a youthful spirit," Unnat Varma, the general manager of Taco Bell & Pizza Hut, said

"We are delighted and honoured to work with Yum. The Burman family over the last 20 years has partnered with many leading Fortune 500 companies globally to bring their businesses to India," Gaurav Burman said.

Besides Gaurav Burman, his brother Mohit and father V.C. Burman are also partners in the deal.

Mohit Burman is the co-promoter and chairperson of the Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket team, Kings XI Punjab.
