Kundapur, Apr 20: State Third Finance Commission Chairman A G Kodgi has appealed the people to convey their opinion to the special committee headed by senior irrigation expert K C Reddy regarding the ambitious “Sowbhagya Sanjeevini’ scheme for the better implementations.
Addressing the press persons here on Wednesday A G Kodgi said that whatever may be the size of the project it is necessary to quench the thirst of the people of coastal districts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi. This is a mega project connecting 13 Rivers from Sowparnika to Kumaradhara through a single canal on the foot of the Western Ghats.
“The project has both advantages and disadvantages when it is implemented. if the people have prejudices over this, we could take the alternate plans to provide the drinking water to the people in summer by the tankers,” he added.
Sowbhagya Sanjeevini is helpful of conservation of water and improvement the ground water- evel, and it will not harm the environment. The scheme is also advantageous for the development of agriculture, environment, Inland fisheries, tourism and related field.
