12 Maoists killed in Jharkhand


Ranchi, Jun 9 (IANS): Twelve Maoists were killed in a gunbattle with security personnel in Jharkhand's Palamau district, police said on Tuesday.

"Twelve Maoist guerrillas were killed in a gunbattle with the policemen on Monday night in a jungle in Palamau district," a police officer told IANS.

Police raided a Maoist hideout on a tip-off.

Anurag alias 'doctorji', a sub-zonal commander of the Maoists who carried a reward of Rs.10 lakh on his head, was among those killed.

Police have seized eight rifles from the spot.
