Congress chief ministers' meeting begins

New Delhi, June 9 (IANS): A meeting of Congress chief ministers, the first since the party lost the Lok Sabha elections last year, began here on Tuesday.

Participants in the meeting are likely to discuss "economic mismanagement" and "anti-people" policies of the Narendra Modi-led government, as well as contentious bills pertaining to land acquisition and Goods and Services Tax.

They will also deliberate on the "cuts" in budgetary allocations for the social sector by the National Democratic Alliance government.

Congress president Sonia Gandhi, party vice president Rahul Gandhi and former prime minister Manmohan Singh will address the meeting. Congress leader in the Lok Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge, and Ghulam Nabi Azad, Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, will also attend.
