British Airways doubles baggage allowance to Indian students

Bengaluru, June 9 (IANS): British Airways (BA) has doubled the baggage allowance for students travelling from India to study in Britain, Europe, the US or Canada, Britain's flag carrier airline said on Tuesday.

"Indian students flying into the West for studies on our airline can take an extra luggage weighing up to 23kg in addition to one baggage for Britain and Europe or two like pieces for the US and Canada," BA said in a statement here.

The special offer will be valid for Indian students till March 31, 2016.

The airline has also tied up with leading brands such as Jabong and Macty's and for free mobile talk time with Matrix to benefit students during their travel.

"As we understand students' needs while travelling abroad for higher studies, we extend our support through such offers with convenient schedules and easy connections in Britain and other cities," BA regional commercial manager Moran Birger said in the statement.

BA's code share with American Airlines gives its young customers to choose an extensive worldwide network.

"In addition, our codeshare with American Airlines gives young customers the ability to choose an extensive worldwide network," Birger said on the occasion.

The airline's home Terminal 5 at Heathrow airport ensures seamless travel for students to make flight connection via London.

The offer to students holding valid visas for Britain, Europe, the US and Canada will be available from Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad and Mumbai airports over the next 10 months.

The extra baggage is valid one way, on the outbound half of the journey.
