Amazon launches Global Selling programme for Indian businesses


New Delhi, June 9 (IANS): With its endeavor to transform the way India sells, Amazon on Tuesday launched its Global Selling programme in India, opening doors for businesses here to export to ecommerce markets of the world, a company statement said.

Amazon is extending two of its products - selling on Amazon (SOA) and fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) to businesses of all sizes and scale from across the country to go global and showcase their "Made in India" creations and products globally by listing on Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk.

To begin with, the programme would allow to export products in the apparel, home furnishing (including Indian handicrafts), jewelry, books, collectibles, sporting goods, handbags, shoes and health & beauty products categories.

"Our Global Selling programme in India is designed to assist Indian manufacturers & businesses to grow their business by leveraging Amazon's state-of-the-art technology, world class logistics infrastructure and customer service expertise," said Chad Goelzer, director, global sales for Amazon.

"There is great demand for Indian products, not only from the millions of Indians living abroad but global consumers across ethnicities who benefit from a vast & unique selection at reasonable prices from Indian sellers," said Amit Deshpande, director, seller services, Amazon India.

"We look forward to helping businesses navigate through the complexities of selling globally and develop an international footprint by leveraging the enormous demand for their products across borders and thus transform the way India makes and sells," he added.
