Showcase Congress-ruled states as best run: Rahul

New Delhi, June 9 (IANS): Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi said on Tuesday that the party should showcase the nine Congress-ruled states as the best run in the country.

Addressing meeting of party chief ministers here, Gandhi asked the Congress ruled states to focus on two-three transformational programmes and make them the best in the country.

"We should showcase that the 9 Congress states are the best run states in the country. Each Congress state should focus on 2-3 transformational programmes and make them the best in the country," Gandhi said, according to tweets made by his office.

He said the chief ministers present have a great amount of wisdom and experience in the Congress' development paradigm. "We must be guided by them," he said.

Gandhi said that the party must defend its rights-based paradigm and defend its efforts towards decentralisation.

"The BJP is reversing the people's empowerment process and taking away power from the people. I believe that the most powerful asset that our country has is the genius and capability of our people," he said.

He said all "Congress party's successes" have focused transferring power to the people.
