Hunt on for lion that escaped from South African park

Cape Town, June 9 (IANS): A lion has escaped from the Karoo National Park in South Africa and the authorities believe the animal went through a hole in a fence.

“The spoor has been found by the trackers, but it’s just a matter of keeping up with it through the mountains and ravines,” said the South African National Parks Fayrouch Ludick, the EyeWitness News reported.

In 2013, a hyena created a storm on social media as it roamed the streets of Johannesburg.

The animal was darted with a tranquilizer gun by zoo officials and taken to the Johannesburg Zoo hospital before being released into the wild.

In 2010, Panjo the tiger shot to fame after escaping from his owner’s bakkie and spending two days on the prowl.

He was later found wandering in the woods outside Bronkhorstspruit.
