BJP MPs' aides to attend workshop on model village scheme

New Delhi, June 9 (IANS): A three-day workshop for the personal assistants and personal secretaries to BJP parliamentarians has been organised to train them for better implementation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's pet project Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojna (SAGY).

"We are organising a workshop for the personal assistants and personal secretaries to BJP parliamentarians from June 12 to 14, at Bhayander, Mumbai," Ravindra Sathe, executive director of the Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini, told IANS from Mumbai.

During the workshop, they will be taught how to select and develop a village into a model one under the SAGY, he added.

Sathe said a special session for them on better implementation of MPLADs has also been convened.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the scheme last year during on Independence Day under which MPs were asked to develop one model village each in their constituencies by year 2016 and two more by 2019.

"Personal assistants and personal secretaries to parliamentarians are the ones who on behalf of their MPs implement the government projects in their constituencies. So, we are organising this workshop for them," said Sathe.

SAGY seems to have hit a roadblock as 108 members of parliament are yet to adopt a village.
