Steel secretary takes charge as interim CMD SAIL


Kolkata, June 11 (IANS): With C.S. Verma stepping down as the chairman and managing director of Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL) on completion of his tenure, Steel Secretary Rakesh Singh has taken up interim additional charge of the company until the successor is appointed.

"Consequent upon completion of his tenure and in pursuance to ministry of steel order dated June 10, 2015, Verma has relinquished the charge of CMD (chairman and managing director) of SAIL w.e.f. June 10, 2015," the company said in a filing with the Bombay Stock Exchange.

The company on Thursday said thet Singh, after assuming office, met senior officials.

Verma assumed charge of the state-owned steel behemoth for a five-year term in June 2010.
