Mangalore, Apr 24: Backward Classes will stage protest against the stay on reservation of 27% in IITs and IIMs.

This was announced in a press conference by M Jayanand Devadiga, general secretary of Union of Backward Castes of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts here on Monday April 23.

He said that the agitators will be submitting a memorandum to the union government, Chief Justice of Supreme Court and President through the deputy commissioner.

He further said that implementation of 27% quota for Backward Classes in central institutions is necessary for the development of these classes which have been denied of many of their rights.  “Backward classes in particular and the country at large will develop only when they are provided with equal opportunities to grow,” he added.


Union president Nainchandra D Suvarna, vice-president Vasudev Bolur, assistant secretaries Vittal Bhandary and Dinesh L Bangera were also present at the press conference.
