Mumbai, Apr 24: Basaveshwara Phylosophical and Cultural Society celebrated 875th Basava Jayanti in Karnataka Sangha’s Vishweshwarya Memorial hall here on Sunday April 22.
Kumara Veerupaksha Swamiji of Uppinabettagiri Kshetra, Dharwad, presided over the programme, while Huchcheswara Swamiji lit the lamp.
Prof Dr Shobha D Karale of Sangola College was the honorary chief guest. Subash Avte, joint police commissioner of Greater Mumbai and Dr Basavaraj C Kalmat, well – known heat specialist, were facilitated on the occasion.
Basaveshwara Cultural Society president V V Baligara welcomed the gathering. Treasurer B G Biradar presented the report while honorary secretary Dundesh B Galagali spoke on the progress of the society. Dr Shobha Karale distributed prizes to the talented children.
Manohar M Kori, Bhooma Reddy and Angadi were also present on the occasion.
