Stay smart on strategies, tactics: Navy chief to IMA graduates

New Delhi, June 13 (IANS): Indian Navy chief Admiral R.K. Dhowan on Saturday urged newly commissioned officers at the Indian Military Academy (IMA) in Dehradun to stay up to date with current and future strategies, tactics and weaponry.

Dhowan was reviewing the passing out parade, during which 616 cadets were commissioned as officers in the armed forces.

Congratulating them on their commission, Dhowan told the passing cadets to "remain updated on the contemporary and futuristic strategies, tactics, weapon systems and equipments".

He also asked the cadets to acquire "required personal, social, psychological and intellectual traits to meet the ever evolving security challenges of the country", according to statement issue by the navy.

The cadets marched out to patriotic tunes with pride and elan.

The academy's coveted Sword of Honour was presented to Cadet Adjutant Ishan Shinghal.
