Mangalore, Apr 25: Undertrials in the sub-jail here went on hunger strike on Tuesday April 24 demanding the fulfillment of their demands.
The protestors said that very often they are produced in the court on time owing to various reasons. "This causes a lot of problems to us. At times we have to be in the jail for long just because we were not produced in the court on time," they alleged.
They further said that during the time of visit by VIPs police are posted on duty which results in delay in producing the undertrials in court. "In such times, there are no alternative arrangements whatsoever to produce the undertrials in court on time. So this effectively means that we have to spend extra days in the prisons," they said.
