Sensex closes trade up 100 points


Mumbai, June 16 (IANS): A benchmark index of the Indian equities markets, the 30-scrip BSE Sensitive Index (Sensex), provisionally closed the day's trade up 99.96 points or 0.38 percent on Tuesday after a volatile session.

The wider 50-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) provisionally ended the day's trade up 33.40 points or 0.42 percent up at 8,047.30 points.

The Sensex of the S&P Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 26,586.86 points, ended the day's trade at 26,686.51 points, up 99.96 points or 0.38 percent from the previous day's close at 26,586.55 points.

The Sensex touched a high of 26,731.35 points and a low of 26,379.93 points in the intra-day trade.
