Mangalore, Apr 27: The 116th birth anniversary celebration of Dr Ambedkar was held under the aegis of Dr B R Ambedkar Study Centre, Mangalore University at the varsity premises here on Wednesday April 25.
Speaking on the occasion, University vice-chancellor Prof K M Kaveriappa said that the University was likely to get Ambedkar Bhavan and would send a proposal in this regard to University Grants Commission (UGC) other than requests to state and centre governments seeking financial and academic assistance.
Delivering the keynote address, Kannada Development Authority (KDA) Dr Siddalingaiah narrated the experiences and difficulties faced by Dr Ambedkar especially in his childhood.
Among those present were University registrar Sunder Naik, Ambedkar Study Centre chairman Dr K Vishwanath and Prof K Chinnappa Gowda.
