Udupi, Apr 27: The arrest of Nagarjuna Virodhi Samiti president Lakshman Shetty's arrest has drawn a lot of flak from Nagarjuna antagonists. As reported earlier Lakshman Shetty who is also taluk panchayat member was arrested for allegedly assaulting Nagarjuna security staff.
Following this Nagarjuna Virodhi Samiti vice-president and former minister Vasant Salian has announced that they would lead a protest on Saturday April 28. He further said that protestors would picket Padubidri police station.
The decision was taken at a meeting held at Nandikur on Thursday April 26 evening. It is said that presidents, vice-presidents of all the 6 GPs in and around Yellur would lead the protest on Saturday. Salian further said that it was wrong on the part of the police to arrest an elected representative in an unlawful and unethical way. He further said that it is the violation of human rights and he would urge Human Rights Commission to intervene in the matter.
