Punjab sets up panel to settle acid attack claims

Chandigarh, June 17 (IANS): Punjab has constituted a criminal injuries compensation board to settle claims of acid attack victims, it was announced here on Wednesday.

A government communique to deputy commissioners said it has been decided that in case of compensation to an acid attack victim, the matter will be taken by the district legal services authority led by the district judge.

The authority will function as the criminal injuries compensation board, the government said.
