Ghaziabad, June 17 (IANS): An eight-month pregnant woman committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling fan in her bedroom on Wednesday in Bamheta locality of Ghaziabad, police said.

The parents of the victim, however, claimed that their daughter was murdered and her in-laws have falsely projected the incident as one of suicide.

Based on their complaint, police have registered a criminal case against four members of the in-laws' family.

Police said the victim, Amlesh (27) married Anand Yadav in 2012. The woman has a one-and-half-year-old daughter.

The in-laws informed the police that Amlesh went to her bedroom last night but when she did not come out of her bedroom till late in the morning on Wednesday, the mother-in-law peeped inside the room and saw her daughter-in-law hanging from the ceiling fan.

"The body has been sent for post-mortem examination. No arrest has been made so far. Further investigation is on," said Avneesh Gautam of Kavi Nagar police station.
