Pakistan stresses on normal ties with India for peace


Islamabad, June 18 (IANS): Pakistan on Thursday reiterated that normalisation of ties between New Delhi and Islamabad is vital for peace and development in the region.

Following the ongoing tensions triggered by a verbal duel between politicians from Pakistan and India, the Pakistani Foreign Office said: “Pakistan will welcome any positive step that promote peace and bilateral relations between the two countries."

“Pakistan on its part is committed to good neighbourly relations with all the regional countries, including India,” Foreign Office spokesperson Qazi Khalilullah said during his weekly press briefing in Islamabad.

However, he maintained that there were "serious issues" between the two neighbouring countries which needed to be resolved through dialogue process.
