Mangalore, April 30: As part of the diamond jubilee celebrations of Dakshina Kannada Cooperative Employee’s Cooperative Society, the Society will soon be upgraded to town cooperative bank.

An action plan has been finalized to upgrade the bank by collecting a deposit of Rs10 crore, said State Apex Cooperative Bank chairman MN Rajendra Kumar addressing news persons here on Saturday April 28.

The diamond jubilee celebration will be inaugurated on Tuesday May 1 by district in-charge minister B Nagraj Shetty. He also added that the diamond jubilee souvenir ‘Kalasha’ will be released by Moodabidri MLA K Abhayachandra Jain on the occasion. 

He further said that the Society also plans to open a branch in every taluk of the district, having a building for the bank of their own, enrolling employees of all the co-operative institutes of the district as members of the bank and felicitating the achievers among the members of the bank or from their families in different fields every year.

Elaborating the achievements of the society, he informed that the society with 1225 members has a share capital of Rs 19.15 lac and a deposit of Rs 226.68 lac. In 2006-07 the society distributed a loan amounting to Rs 259.92 lac to its members and earned a profit of Rs 6.49 lac, Kumar said.
