Messi asked for on-field selfie by opponent

Vina del Mar (Chile), June 21 (IANS): Lionel Messi may be quite used to pose for selfies, but even for him it was a first when Deshorn Brown requested the star to be clicked with the striker shortly after Argentina's laboured 1-0 win over Jamaica in Copa America.

Argentina progressed to the quarters as group toppers but their performance was far from satisfactory.

Messi appeared less than satisfied after the win but was polite enough to pose for the picture when approached by Brown, who was visibly happy to be just near him.

Jamaican footballers didn't seem to mind the defeat.

Brown later posted the picture online with the message: "Not the result we were looking for, but I get to meet the best player in the world and it was a great feeling to play against him!! Best of luck to Messi and Argentina in the rest tournament!!"

Messi also gave away his two match jerseys to Jamaican footballers, who asked for the prized memento.
