Bajaj attains market leadership in super sports segment


New Delhi, June 22 (IANS): Two- and three-wheeler major Bajaj Auto on Monday said it has attained market leadership position in the hi-end super sports bike segment which is priced at Rs.1 lakh and above.

"The all new Pulsar RS200 has met with a phenomenal response. Together with the KTMs manufactured by Bajaj, we today dominate this hi-end segment and are driving its growth," said Eric Vas, president of motorcycle business with Bajaj Auto.

According to Vas, the company not only enjoys a dominant market share in the hi-end super sports segment, it has already attained leadership position for more than 10 years in the sports segment due to its Pulsar brand.

The company elaborated that in the last two years, it has driven ahead of the Japanese manufacturers in the hi-end super sports bike segment by rapidly gaining market share.

Bajaj Auto held a meagre 10 percent market share in June 2013, which it has grown to a staggering 59 percent in May 2015.

The company entered the segment with KTM and has further strengthened its position with the recent success of Pulsar RS200 which was launched in March 2015.
