Pakistan condemns attack on Afghan parliament


Islamabad, June 22 (IANS): Pakistan on Monday condemned the Taliban attack on the Afghan parliament and praised Afghan security forces for killing the attackers.

"Pakistan strongly condemns the attack... We commend the role of Afghan security forces in effectively countering this act of terrorism," said the foreign ministry.

"We stand with our Afghan brothers in our common struggle against terrorism," a statement added.

Seven Taliban militants who staged the attack were killed in a gun battle with security forces that also left 21 people wounded.
