Mangalore, May 3: V C Channegowda, state president of Karnataka State Road Transportation Corporation (KSRTC) action committee here condemned the anti-Kannada stand of Karumbaiah, divisional controller KSRTC Mangalore division.
Speaking at a press conference here on Thursday May 3, he said that Karumbaiah has not implemented Kannada in Mangalore division properly and that he has been neglecting Kannada.
According to the rules, the division has to purchase books worth Rs 3 thousand every year for the reading of the employees. But there is no library in Mangalore division. Newspapers too are not purchased here and the communication in administrative level is done in English only. Kannada should be used to write number plates of the buses. But Mangalore division buses have number plates written in English, he alleged.
He further stated that if the divisional controller fails to implement Kannada within May 15, protest will be staged in front of the KSRTC office.
Raphael Raj, general secretary of Action Committee, treasurer Sujnanamurthy and Harish Golla, general secretary, Mangalore division were also present at the press conference.
