Japan raises volcano alert for Mount Hakone


Tokyo, Jun 30 (IANS): Japanese authorities on Tuesday raised the volcano alert at Mount Hakone in Kanagawa Prefecture from level two to level three, indicating a possible eruption.

The Japan Meteorological Agency has issued an evacuation advisory in the area within a one km radius of the Hakone area, Xinhua reported.

The higher alert restricts people from entering the area.

Mount Hakone last erupted 2,900 years ago.
