VVIP Culture : Air India flight delayed by one hour for Fadnavis' aide

Mumbai, Jun 30 (DNA) : An Air India flight was delayed by an hour after Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis's aide brought an old passport to the airport, reports NDTV. Air India has issued a clarification saying the delay was due to technical reasons.

Fadnavis was flying from Mumbai to New York with his entourage.

According to the NDTV report, when Fadnavis' aide Praveen Pardeshi mistakenly brought his old passport to the airport, the flight was delayed by 50 minutes as they waited for the new passport to be brought to them.

An Air India official gave a clarification regarding the incident. "The flight, AI 191 of 29th June, 2015 was delayed by a total of 57 minutes. The delay was partly due to technical/operational reasons, and also the ATC," he said.

This is just another incident of VIP privilege. In February, Congress MP Renuka Chowdhury held up an Air India flight for 45 minutes.

Many such incidences happen in Denmark and USA and in the World my friend but these persons concentrate on the vitality of the matter than the incidence Thus they can Progress.
Before blowing up the entire episode the true details are found - as far as I can hear and read from the reports the delay was technical - there would have been no saving of the time if the CMs Group or the bureaucrat had to be de-boarded... see the bigger picture... follow the Work and the relevance of what the team is doing right now for the country than using more energy in highlighting an accidental episode ... Its a pity that so many of us can be so narrow minded and forget that even these persons are ordinary human beings !!

AI flight is famous for its delay record. It is very rare it takes off in a scheduled. So I think Fednavis is know about the matter that is why he brings the old passport to travel America by AI.

If I heard correctly a few name this as BMC aircraft as for the AI management or its functioning. Our government officials are fully responsible for the low key functioning, and the misdeeds in governing this sector. The Tatas were much better to handle this airline with discipline in a sophisticated way with a good revenue to the country.

Who says Air India does not belong to the CM or his advisors or the Air India Board Members or for that matter the staff from the pilot to the stewards/stewardesses or their fathers, mothers et all?

In 1979 Air India lodged me at Juhu Centaur. I was eating at their restaurant there was a group of young college boys and girls who had combined three of four tables and were chirping away and enjoying their meals. Came payment time and one of the boys called for the restaurant manager and told him to charge it to his father's account I couldn't get the man's name or position but it seemed that his father enjoyed a honorable position in Air India the restaurant manager tried to explain to the boy that it was not possible however after some haggling and to avoid a scene the restaurant manager obliged to charge the bill worth a few thousand rupees to Air India.

You fly nowadays and everything from the booze to the salted peanuts to the lunch and even the dirty seat which sometimes stink of vomit from a previous flight is announced as complimentary from the Maharaja.

I had to explain to an Air India steward that contrary to his understanding all Air India employees were at the receiving end of complementaries as their pay check comes from the huge sum the passengers paid to purchase their tickets to fly Air India especially the passengers from the Middle east.

My understanding of the first rows seats in the aircraft is that these are reserved for VVIP passengers or those deemed VIP due to their membership of the various clubs operated by the airline. Can these seats be allocated to non-fared passengers of Air India Staff Members or their relatives despite of there being VVIPs or VIPs on board?

But like I said things will not change in another 50 years unless of course Air India ceases to exist, so for the moment don't complain and

Yes Air India belongs to the CM, his aides, to the Air India management and staff and of course their fathers, mothers and all.

I was flying from mangalore to abu dhabi on 16.05.15 through jet airways. i came 5 min late, but ground staff they are not allowed to fly. more then 5 passenger we have return home due to only 5 min late, actually flight time is 5.50 we came 5 o clock, but for ministries they will wait 1 hour. why we are not human being. this is our country policy.

wow super minister of our country, caring old expired passport, think the minister doesn't know to read, may be uneducated and holding fake degree certificates. pls have a check or verify the graduation certificates.
If this same case would have been happen with normal passenger the flight would have take off by leaving that person there only. this VIP person can make the flights delay for their mistakes.what a equality in Indian humans,what a Indian democracy.
these minister have to learn Indian all fundamental right like all have equal right and etc...
super minister teach others passengers a good lesson.
From today on wards all passengers can make flight delay for their personal mistake or any personal problem and take their same flight. New rules implement by minister of Maharashtra,India.
Even time makes a sense, if the minister have no time and cant leave that flight and take next flight, then think of other passenger who were in that flight may have scheduled their time of their work or meeting. since all humans have equal and equal time in a day. No persons have more than 24 hour a day.

All don't like this comment ...
But like this minister who have taught good lesson and new rule implemented....

This shows how much CM is dependent on his P.Secretary. Surprisingly the Secretary don't even know the validity of his passport!.Well this attitude is normal, these are the perks you get when you become ministers in India. Z plus security cover, No tolls, Delay the flights, block whole leg of road when VIP' convoy is passing. I dont see a change in this attitude coming in near future for the sigh of common man. In all such cases AI always comes out with a false explanation that -it was due to Technical Problem the flight was delayed, so that no passenger questions the delay legally. AI /IA has been doing this drama of Technical Problem since last 40 years whether the VIP responsible for delay is of Cong or BJP or other party.

One of the readers is dragging the Congress into this. Here it is not the Congress or the BJP. The action of the Maharashtra Chief Minister is condemnable and the VVIP culture that is deplorable. It so happens that he belongs to the BJP. And what clarification from the airline is the reader talking about? Air India is owned by the Government of India and do you think any employee has the audacity to say anything bad about the Chief Minister who belongs to the party which is also ruling in the Centre? The CM has behaved in a manner that tarnishes his image and the tantrums he has thrown at the airport have not only brought disrepute to the chair but also inconvenienced the other passengers who had to wait for this unworthy person for no fault of theirs. It is time the CM acknowledged his mistake and apologised to the other passengers for his unruly behaviour. To hell with such persons. He is the CM of a state and he should set an example by good behaviour and not by these bullying tactics. He does not own Air India. Air India belongs to this country. I cannot bear to see this airline being used as somebody's father's property. Let these rogues learn to behave first.

Even if he has 10 old passports he has to keep it attached to gather. He cannot remove it. if he can not identify his old and new passport what else he can do with CM. I have 3 old passports but they are attached.

The problem with the media today is to use a tiny bit of an incident to disturb the morale of a very hardworking sincere administration and political team who has been working hard to bring about drastic positive changes in the system in our country. It is unfortunate that we even spend so much time to blow up an irrelevant incident - did anyone think that probabally the beautocrat spoken Of here must have been so worked up with much more important issues Of the USA meeting than remembering the right passport ???

Let him take the next flight.

If Air India left on time to honor the paid passengers, the Bhart Joker's Party in New Delhi will punish the white elephant with punishing the captain and the rest.

The best solution is to fly through some other airlines which are giving good and prompt service.

I have flown Air India a few times decades back now, even for half ticket price, I am not comfortable to fly Air India due to her bad service.
