Monsoon arrives in Pakistan


Islamabad, July 2 (IANS): Many areas of Pakistan received intermittent overnight monsoon showers, providing respite to the people from the protracted hot weather, the met department said on Thursday

The department said that the first spell of monsoon rain has started in areas of Rawalpindi, Islamabad and the upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, GeoTV reported.

In Islamabad, 13 mm of rainfall was recorded on Thursday morning.

Cloudy weather is expected in Quetta and Karachi, while the temperature in Karachi is likely to reach 35 degrees Celsius.

A heat wave hit Karachi on June 19 and more than 65,000 patients were reported in Karachi hospitals during this period, out of which more than 1,200 lost their lives.
