Seven killed in UP road accident


Lucknow, July 3 (IANS): Seven people were killed and three others injured when a truck rammed into a tempo carrying passengers in Uttar Pradesh, police said on Friday.

The accident took place at Rae Bareli in the early hours of Friday, police said.

The local residents pulled out the injured and the bodies of the victims from the tempo immediately after the accident.

Those killed were identified as Sahdev, Ram Harsha, Amarpal, Ram Pyare, Bindadeen, Harishchandra and Ram Singh. All were from Kasaunda village of Manehari area and were headed to Lalganj for a ritual.

The district magistrate has announced a compensation of Rs.5 lakh to the families of each of the deceased.
